Celebrating Earth Day With AmprGlobal Clients, Our Forces Of Nature

Happy Earth Day! Today, and every day, we’re so happy putting the spotlight on hotels, resorts, cruises and destinations around the globe we are incredibly proud to call our clients, all of which are forces of nature as they inspire their community, employees, guests, and us, to be kinder to our planet, as well as spread awareness and teach us the various steps we can all take, big or small, that will make a difference for generations to come.  From organic farming and unique training programs to obtaining Green Globe certifications and being the first cruise line to join Tourism Declares Climate Emergency, discover some of our clients’ green initiatives below.

GRAUBUNDEN, Switzerland

Sustainability continues to be at the forefront of the culinary scene in Graubunden where there are 4 Michelin Green-starred restaurants with Schweizerhof Hotel in Lenzerheide leading the way – home to Scalottas Terroir restaurant where Head chef Hansjörg Ladurner works exclusively with regional produce and farmers. He even launched a mountain smallholding project giving access to potatoes, barley, beans using traditional farming methods. The hotel is also a proud member of the Responsible Hotels of Switzerland, uniting over 30 establishments in the country leading the way in ecological and social sustainability.

VERINA HOTELS, Sifnos, Greece

The original Sifnian boutique hotels Verina, in their quest to become more sustainable with every opportunity, use bathroom products and amenities by MERAKI – a brand that produces everything bio and with greek herbs while it is also refillable, in an effort to bid farewell to plastic use on property.

In Sifnos, everybody takes food very seriously and some of the dishes are famous the world over. In essence, they love everything-traditional but are also open to interesting mixes that stay true to the soul of the local cuisine: simplicity, freshness and deliciousness. Their menu is inspired by the local gastronomy and prepared with local products.

PHĀEA RESORTS, Crete, Greece

With the support of local food experts, Phāea Resorts developed a unique training program, Phāea Farmers: in low-season, staff who also have their small holdings work with agronomists specializing in sustainable organic farming methods to learn to grow in a way that replenishes the environment rather than ravaging it further before selling their produce at fair price to Blue Palace where a new gastronomy concept emerges at Anthós restaurant highlighting a refined approach to Greek cuisine with ingredients sourced from their own organic, kitchen garden.

Situated in the Guanacaste Province on the Nicoya Peninsula – designated one of the world’s Blue Zones – Hotel Punta Islita, Autograph Collection offers 45 individually designed rooms and villas nestled in lush gardens combining luxury and an eco-resort sensibility for a truly authentic Costa Rican experience. The resort’s sustainability ethos extends beyond the property to empowering local communities, conserving wildlife and protecting the natural environment. At Punta Islita, the Agro-Marine culinary experience features zero-km menus incorporating ingredients from the on-property organic garden and local seafood at the Alma Restaurant and The Aura Beach Club.

Located on the prestigious Gulf of Papagayo on the northern Pacific Coastline of Guanacaste, El Mangroove features a contemporary, eco-conscious design blending with the surrounding natural environment in 121 suites and throughout the public spaces including three restaurants, a spa, and a luscious pool area, and is the perfect spot to explore the region’s natural bounty, rich flora and fauna, marine panoramas and exciting eco-adventure activities, such as the Leave Your Leaves program which provides the opportunity for guests to adopt a tree to help with the reforestation of the tropical forest at the El Toledo farm.

FINCA VICTORIA, Vieques, Puerto Rico

Finca Victoria is a farmhouse-style Bed & Breakfast in the heart of the small island of Vieques, Puerto Rico. The hotel is located on a hill with wonderful cross-ventilation, surrounded by luscious vegetation and the soothing symphony of the native Coqui frogs. Being on one of the highest points of the island provides amazing view of sunrises and sunsets, and majestic nights for stargazers. The land is fertile with a large variety of tropical plants, fruit trees, flowers, and cacti and the hotel based its design of the space on permaculture principles, with areas designated for an herb garden, a medicinal garden, and an edible garden from which they source a lot of the food the hotel serves in their Ayurvedic vegan kitchen. The hotel also utilizes plants from the Finca to create some of the natural products that they sell in the store and use in the wellness house.

Greek and family-owned for over 70 years, Variety Cruises is revered as the most established small ship sailing company in Greece. Now helmed by the same owner family’s third-generation and CEO Filippos Venetopoulos, he maintains the family ethos of authenticity and heritage, offering exceptionally curated intimate experiences only small ship sailing can bring. Variety Cruises plans to transform into a 360-degree sustainable, humane and community-driven operation adding 52 vessels over the next eight years with an aim to achieve carbon neutrality, taking a 1% share of the world’s cruise market by 2050 with a 60-boat fleet. “As the first cruise line globally to join Tourism Declares Climate Emergency, we are taking an important step to lead by example in our industry,” says Venetopoulos.
