Moskito Island Brings the Stars Closer With the Launch of The
“Cosmic Concierge” at the Point Estate
A New Frontier in Ultra-Luxury Travel: Exclusive Stargazing Experiences with a State-of-the-Art Telescope in One of the Caribbean’s Most Pristine Night Skies

The night sky over Moskito Island is clearer than ever, and now guests of The Point, one of the island’s most luxurious estates, can explore the cosmos like never before. Introducing The Cosmic Concierge, an extraordinary new experience that invites guests to witness the universe’s wonders through a Celestron NexStar 8SE Computerized Telescope, one of the most advanced personal telescopes on the market.
Perched on a secluded cliffside, The Point offers zero light pollution, expansive ocean views, and unspoiled celestial visibility, making it an unrivaled setting for stargazing in the Caribbean. From planetary alignments to meteor showers and full moon risings over the sea, the sky above Moskito Island has always been a spectacle, but it now becomes an integral part of the guest experience.
An Observatory in Paradise
More than just a telescope, The Cosmic Concierge facilitates guests as they elevate stargazing into an immersive experience. Guests can take advantage of the telescope’s Barlow Lens technology, which enhances magnification and brings the rings of Saturn, Jupiter’s moons, and deep-space nebulae into astonishing detail. For a more interactive experience, colored planetary filters allow guests to observe celestial bodies in new ways—highlighting Jupiter’s swirling cloud bands or revealing the ice caps on Mars in vivid clarity.
“At The Point, we’ve always been passionate about offering our guests the most extraordinary experiences, and this is yet another way to connect with the natural beauty of our surroundings—both on land and among the stars,” says Paul Salem, owner of The Point and Chairman of MGM Resorts. “There is something truly transformative about witnessing the vastness of the universe from a place as untouched as Moskito Island.”
Why Moskito Island is the Ultimate Stargazing Destination
Unlike bustling resort destinations with light pollution, Moskito Island is one of the rare Caribbean locations that offers exceptional dark-sky conditions for an unfiltered celestial show. Positioned at 18° North latitude, it sits at the perfect vantage point for viewing both northern and southern hemisphere constellations—from Orion and the Pleiades to the Southern Cross.
This year, guests at The Point can witness several major astronomical events, including:
- March 14, 2025 – Penumbral Lunar Eclipse: Watch the full moon darken as it moves through Earth’s outer shadow.
- April 22-23, 2025 – Lyrid Meteor Shower: One of the oldest recorded meteor showers, with observations dating back over 2,500 years, Lyrid is a dazzling display of shooting stars peaking under the crystal clear Caribbean sky.
- May 31, 2025 – Venus at greatest elongation: This day, Venus will reach its greatest western elongation, appearing 46 degrees west of the Sun and shining brightly in the eastern sky before sunrise. For those lucky enough to use The Point’s new telescope, Venus will be 49% illuminated, revealing a striking half-disc shape through a telescope, making it an ideal opportunity for detailed planetary observation.
- August 12, 2025 – Close Approach of Venus and Jupiter: On this date, the two brightest planets, Venus and Jupiter, will appear exceptionally close in the evening sky, offering a striking visual for observers.
- November 5, 2025 – Supermoon: The November full moon will be a “supermoon,” appearing larger and brighter than usual due to its closer proximity to Earth. This will be the largest and closest supermoon since 2019.
- December 13–14, 2025 – Geminid Meteor Shower: The Geminids are one of the most prolific meteor showers, with over 100 meteors per hour at their peak. In 2025, the peak occurs on the night of December 13 into the early hours of December 14, offering a spectacular display for stargazers.

The Point has always been a sanctuary for exploration and discovery, from its comet-shaped infinity pool to its panoramic terraces. Now, with the addition of The Cosmic Concierge, guests can experience the island from an entirely new perspective—one that stretches beyond the horizon and into the stars.
