Chefs Warehouse at Tintswalo Atlantic Reopens
Head Chef Cameron Luke Smith advances Liam Tomlin’s acclaimed “Tapas for Two” philosophy at Cape Town’s most distinctive coastal restaurant

At the base of Chapman’s Peak, where the cliffs meet the Atlantic, Chefs Warehouse at Tintswalo Atlantic has reopened following a thoughtful redesign that deepens its connection to both landscape and community. The refreshed space features floor-to-ceiling glass and a new long bar, blending refinement with a sense of immersion in nature—an evolution of the restaurant’s commitment to hospitality rooted in place.
Head Chef Cameron Luke Smith leads the kitchen, bringing a creative precision to Liam Tomlin’s renowned “Tapas for Two” format. The new four-course menu is grounded in seasonality, sustainability, and balance. Dishes highlight the restaurant’s coastal setting while embracing a global sensibility—examples include linefish sashimi with tamarind coconut broth and smoked abalone crème, glazed trout with horseradish Catalan and mustard dressing, and Caldhame duck breast with poached pear flan, pine-nut XO, and pomegranate molasses jus. A dedicated plant-based menu receives the same attention to craft and detail, underscoring a philosophy of inclusivity and respect for the ingredients.

“As chefs, we’re guided by what the ocean and land give us,” says Head Chef Cameron Luke Smith. “Our role is to honour that rhythm and bring lightness, texture, and surprise to every plate. The new space mirrors that idea—refined but natural, familiar yet evolving.”
The redesign, by Laurence Holmes, integrates the former pergola into the main dining room, now enclosed by seamless glass framing Hout Bay and the Sentinel. Soft tones of sand, driftwood, and kelp flow through the space, with organic shapes in the lighting and wall panels echoing the coastline outside. A reimagined kitchen and new private dining area accommodate groups of 12–30, adding versatility to the experience.
“Guests often tell us it feels like dining inside the landscape itself,” notes General Manager Jami de Witt. “We wanted to create something that feels intimate and elemental at the same time—a restaurant that listens to its surroundings.”

With more than 350 employees nationwide, the group exemplifies hospitality with impact.
Situated within the 10-suite Tintswalo Atlantic boutique hotel, Chefs Warehouse at Tintswalo Atlantic is as inviting to hotel guests as to Cape Town locals and international diners seeking a dining experience shaped by place, season, and spirit.
