The Wedding & Honeymoon Edit: Where To Marry & Escape In 2027

With news continuing to circulate on Dua Lipa’s recent nuptials and now Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s big day, we’re seeing couples dream up their own celebrations — and 2027 is shaping up to be the year of the multi-day, destination-led “I do.” From deconstructed weddings that unfold across several cities to honeymoons built around design, wellness, and a genuine sense of place, the appetite has never been stronger for venues that offer more than a backdrop. With that in mind, I wanted to share a portfolio of properties, spanning the French Riviera and Provence, the Greek islands, Scandinavia’s emerging coastline, and Jamaica’s untouristed south coast, that speak directly to where the modern couple is headed next.

CARIBBEAN: AUTHENTIC, BAREFOOT JAMAICA

Jakes Hotel (Treasure Beach, Jamaica)
A one-of-a-kind, family-built, hand-crafted boutique hotel on Jamaica’s untouristed south coast, Jakes is the antidote to the cookie-cutter all-inclusive: bohemian, colorful, and authentically Jamaican. For the ceremony itself, the newly renovated Calabash Bay Villa, right on the beach and just down the road from the hotel, is Jakes’ most luxurious wedding venue, with polished black concrete floors and modern, beachy furniture; its flow of open spaces for large group gatherings and intimate corners for private moments suits everything from a barefoot beach ceremony (the team loves evening dresses with flip-flops) to a dressed-up poolside affair. Couples can then retreat to the romantic Octopussy honeymoon suites, with outdoor showers and rooftop moon decks for stargazing. Honeymoon packages bundle excursions, the legendary floating Pelican Bar, couples’ massages, and Farm-to-Table dinners under the stars.

DENMARK’S NEW HONEYMOON FRONTIER: KØGE

For newlyweds seeking a fresh, nature-anchored honeymoon that blends Nordic serenity with immersive wellness, the Køge coastal region near Copenhagen, home to Rox Resort, is one of Europe’s most exciting destinations in 2027. A Travel + Leisure 100 Best New Hotels honoree, the 156-room beach resort sits right on Køge Marina, 30 minutes from Copenhagen, with three year-round heated rooftop pools that seem to float into the Baltic, a sea-view sauna, a full-service spa, and ESS Group’s signature open fireplaces scenting the halls. The region’s wild-yet-gentle landscape, where forest meets sea, creates a natural setting for Nordic wellness traditions, such as seaside saunas, cold-water plunges, breath-work rituals, and slow spa journeys inspired by Nordic bathing culture. A honeymoon itinerary could include: morning salt-water swims, coastal cycling, forest walks, candlelit dinners at Smith (a steakhouse with a Sichuan edge), and fireside lounging. Beyond the resort, Køge offers storybook medieval streets, harbor promenades, UNESCO-listed Stevns Klint, and easy access to Copenhagen’s design-forward culture, letting couples balance stillness with exploration.

Maryhill Estate (Glumslöv, Sweden)

A glamorous reimagining of the baroque Örenäs Castle (built 1914–18) on the coast 35 minutes from Malmö, Maryhill — Vogue Scandinavia’s favorite new Swedish destination — is a storybook castle wedding venue with sea views over the island of Ven. Hill House offers 16 elegant rooms, opulent bars, a sophisticated restaurant, and an outdoor pool, where history dances with modern glamour for ceremonies and weekend celebrations.

Ellery Beach House (Lidingö, Stockholm)

Stockholm’s only beach resort — a Palm Springs–meets–Baltic playground 18 minutes from the city, featured by Condé Nast Traveller. With heated outdoor pools, seaside saunas with cold plunges, cabanas, restaurants, and a dedicated wedding-coordinator team, it’s designed for couples who want a relaxed, design-forward wedding weekend: the BBQ the night before, the dance floor that never empties, the quiet poolside morning after. Say “I do” at the edge of Elfviks Udde, with the Lindbergh Ballroom hosting up to 300.

Hotel Pigalle (Gothenburg, Sweden)

Newly named Sweden’s Leading Hotel 2025, Hotel Pigalle brings 1920s Parisian glamour to central Gothenburg. The sunset-facing Palais ballroom seats up to 90 for a fairytale reception, the art-filled Galerie suits ceremonies and cocktails, and the Bibliothèque offers a quiet corner for the bridal party to get ready. Rehearsal dinners and morning-after brunches move to Restaurant Pigalle’s rooftop terrace, and couples who want the whole place to themselves can book a full hotel buyout for a private, multi-day celebration.

GREEK ISLAND HOPPING (Santorini, Milos & Crete)

The Greek islands remain the ultimate classic honeymoon, combining iconic beauty with elevated, authentic luxury. In 2027, the appeal is heightened by Empiria Group’s refreshed Santorini retreats and recent openings that let couples tailor a multi-island journey — from cliff-top drama to barefoot beach luxury to volcanic seclusion.

  • Mystique, a Luxury Collection Hotel (Oia, Santorini) – Carved into the caldera cliffs in Oia, Mystique is a long-standing romantics’ favorite with 41 cave-style suites and villas, dazzling infinity pools, and sunset terraces, recognized among the “World’s Best Hotels” in Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards. Beyond the room, the hotel leans into Santorini’s wine heritage with tastings in its Secret Wine Cave and the Symphony of Flavors dining series at Lure Restaurant, while private helicopter tours over the caldera and catamaran or speedboat cruises to the surrounding islands add a sense of adventure to the honeymoon.
  • Istoria, a Member of Design Hotels (Santorini) – Istoria now offers a dual experience across two locations: the original 12-suite beachfront hideaway on the black volcanic sand of Perivolos, known for minimalist elegance and intimacy, and Istoria Cliff in Firostefani, which is a cave-style caldera retreat with nine suites and villas and panoramic caldera views. Couples can experience Santorini from both the water’s edge and above it, with access to the Perivolos Beach Club throughout. For something more active, the hotel arranges horseback rides along vineyard-lined paths to the lunar-like Eros Beach, as well as intimate tastings that trace Santorini’s ancient winemaking tradition.
  • Eréma, a Member of Design Hotels (Milos) – Empiria Group’s first Milos property which just launched (June 2026) brings the group’s refined, design-led approach to one of Greece’s most naturally dramatic islands. The 41 all-suite retreat, where each suite with a private pool and uninterrupted Aegean views, is carved into Milos’s volcanic terrain in stone, marble, and earth tones. Positioned as a quieter, slower counterpoint to Santorini, it’s perfect for couples wanting seclusion and design, with intimate boat tours through Milos’s Martian-red sea caves, starry-night swims in hidden bays, and Medite-Grecian dining from Culinary Director Yiannis Kioroglou.
  • Phāea Blue, a Member of SLH (Elounda, Crete) – A boutique 47-bungalow hideaway and the only luxury hotel set directly on the beach in Crete, Phāea Blue is a longtime favorite of European honeymooners, with private plunge pools, sweeping views of UNESCO-candidate Spinalonga island, and conscious-luxury credentials (100% renewable energy, 25 beehives, a Bostani organic garden). Honeymoon highlights include sunset cruises aboard a traditional caique, Cretan cooking classes, olive-oil tastings, and antikristo lamb feasts on the private beach. For weddings, the restored Saint Titus Chapel offers authentic Greek Orthodox ceremonies, and couples can plant an olive tree as a living symbol of their union.
