Introducing Rox Resort: A Cinematic New Coastal Destination in Denmark’s Harbor Town of Køge
AMPR Global is proud to announce the addition of Rox Resort to our client portfolio—an extraordinary new lifestyle property set to open November 1, 2025, just 30 minutes south of Copenhagen in the harbor town of Køge.
Developed by the visionary Swedish hospitality group ESS, Rox is more than a resort. It is a design-led escape shaped by the spirit of discovery, the romance of the sea, and the elegance of another era. Anchored in storytelling and materiality, the experience unfolds like a cinematic sequence—layered, atmospheric, and unforgettable.
A Story Told in Materials
At the heart of Rox Resort is Spik Studios, the in-house creative arm of ESS Group, founded and majority-owned by the hospitality company. Based within ESS’s own offices, Spik is the design force behind some of the group’s most distinctive destinations, including Fýri Resort in Hemsedal, Jacy’z in Gothenburg, Maryhill Estate in Skåne, and now Rox Resortin Køge. With each project, the studio crafts spaces that feel both transportive and grounded—interiors with soul, shaped by place and narrative.
For Rox, Spik Studios drew on the visual language of the 1920s and ’30s—British colonial influences, Danish minimalism, and the moody glamour of Hong Kong’s historic harbors. The result is a refined, layered interior where chalk-washed walls echo Nordic skies, burgundy velvet and burnished brass add warmth and texture, and rattan fixtures nod to both summer houses and seafaring trade routes.
“We wanted to create an atmosphere that is mysterious and intriguing, yet warm and welcoming,” say the designers. “Rox is not overtly Nordic, nor overtly exotic—it’s a design palimpsest: soulful, grounded, and quietly complex.”
Every detail invites discovery. Velvet headboards are embroidered. Firewood alcoves are lined in chinoiserie wallpaper. Mirrors reflect more than light—they reflect mood. No two rooms are the same, but all tell a story.
Eat, Play, Swim, Repeat
Rox is designed as a layered experience—one that balances indulgence with intention. Guests can dine at R.H. SMITH, home to The Dirty Sichuan, where bold British fare meets the spice and nuance of Sichuan cuisine. Or they can linger over shared plates and aperitifs at The Dumpling Bar, a sun-soaked, poolside venue with a playful spirit.
Five bars are scattered throughout the property, including the rooftop Pool Bar, Birdcage, the elegant Lobby Bar, an outdoor terrace bar, and a hidden cocktail nook tucked inside the Fire Room—perfect for late-night storytelling.
Wellness takes center stage, with three heated rooftop pools (one indoors), a full spa, and a high-performance fitness club. For the active set, Rox also offers two padel courts, golf simulators, a five-a-side football field, indoor games, and nine meeting rooms designed for creative gatherings and off-site retreats.
The New Way to Experience Denmark
While Rox is rooted in immersive design, it also serves as a gateway to Denmark’s coastal wilds and cultural landmarks. Curated day trips take guests from the lounge to the land, with visits to UNESCO-listed Stevns Klint, the Viking Ship Museum, the towering treetop walkways of the Forest Tower, Køge Mini Village, and local microbreweries known for small-batch craftsmanship and character.
Mercedes rentals and tailored excursions are available through the concierge, who help shape every guest’s experience through a local, insider lens.
