Tintswalo Collection Expands in Cape Town with the Opening of Tintswalo Summer House

The Tintswalo Collection announces the opening of Tintswalo Summer House, a boutique seaside retreat in the coastal village of Glencairn, marking the brand’s latest addition to its Cape Town portfolio alongside Tintswalo Atlantic and Tintswalo Boulders.

Originally built in 1904 as the Glencairn Southern Right Hotel, the historic property has been thoughtfully restored and reimagined as an intimate 12-suite villa overlooking False Bay. The project is led by three generations of the same family: founder Gaye Corbett, CEO Lisa Goosen, and Head of Interiors Camlyn Johnston – grandmother, mother, and daughter – whose collaboration brings together heritage, evolution, and a contemporary design perspective.

Each suite is individually designed, with a palette that draws on coastal tones and soft, layered textures. Accommodation is offered across four categories, with select rooms featuring sea views. Rates start at approximately $190 USD per night.

The Bit of Blue Room

The property’s shared spaces balance a maximalist aesthetic with relaxed coastal living, including a pool and sundeck, the Tini Martini Bar, and a series of intimate lounges.

The on-site restaurant, Summer House Eatery, opened in December 2025 and offers a refined yet relaxed dining experience inspired by classic French bistros. The menu draws on the rich culinary heritage of the Cape Peninsula through a Mediterranean lens, with an emphasis on open-fire cooking. Dishes highlight locally sourced ingredients, from fresh seafood and seasonal produce to premium meats, crafted for sharing. Restaurant bookings are available via Dineplan.

Summer House Eatery

Sommelier and Joint General Manager Jabu Ngwenya oversees a curated wine and cocktail program, showcasing regional varietals alongside selections from Lomond Wine Estate in the Cape Agulhas region.

Adjacent to the restaurant, the Sports Bar retains its original charm, featuring checkered floors, an antique fireplace, and a timber bar counter. Opening onto a sea-facing terrace, it remains a popular gathering spot for locals and guests alike.
