Nicaragua

Owned by British soul seeker, Nicky Ray, the private island resort of El Coyol is nestled amongst 364 other islands that were formed when the volcano Mombacho exploded 20,000 years ago, and over the years this archipelago in the NW corner of the second largest freshwater lake in all of Central and South America, has become a lush wonderland brimming with beautiful flora and fauna. The lake can be swum from its private dock, and is also prime for explorative kayaking expeditions. What else to do? Volcano surfing (yes, that’s a thing), hiking, fishing, submerging your soul in the healing mineral waters of Apoyo Lagoon and so much more. Managua is an easy flight from Miami, and the island is less than an hour from the airport. The resort sleeps eight persons in two villas, and the historic town of Granada, is only 10m away by water taxi and the island is another 10m away by boat.
